Troy Welcomes Southern Miss for Sun Belt Series

TROY, Ala- Troy Softball welcomes Southern Miss to the Troy Softball Complex for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series from Thursday through Saturday. All three games will be broadcast on ESPN+ and live stats will be available at TroyTrojans.com. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday, 6 p.m. on Friday and at noon on Saturday.

Troy (24-11, 4-2 SBC) has won its first two Sun Belt series of the season after taking 2-of-3 from both Coastal Carolina and James Madison, while Southern Miss (14-16, 3-3 SBC) lost a series to ULM before taking 2-of-3 from Marshall last weekend. Troy leads the all-time meetings between the two programs with a 17-5 record.

Jade Sinness has stayed hot with a four-game hitting streak dating back to Troy's midweek tilt against Auburn. The senior currently leads the club with 42 hits. D'Aun Riggs also had a weekend from the dish. Riggs recorded four hits on the weekend, with a team-high of three hits and a career-high of three RBIs in game three against the Dukes.

With two weeks of conference play under their belts, the Trojans are averaging 7.3 runs per conference game and 6.3 runs over the course of the season. The Troy squad leads the Sun Belt in three categories with a team batting average of .321, 221 recorded runs and 292 hits on the season.Â

The Trojans swept the series against the Golden Eagles last season by winning 9-2, 5-1 and 3-0 in Hattiesburg.

Southern Miss sits in eighth place in the second week of Sun Belt play. Hannah Borden headlines the Golden Eagles offense with a .376 clip and 1.176 OPS. Borden is one of two players to play every game for USM. The grad student has recorded 38 hits with 31 RBIs.

Holly Craft and Jana Lee head up the USM Pitching staff. Craft bolsters a 1.59 ERA through 11.1 innings of work, while Lee sits on a 2.41 ERA with 18.2 innings of work. The duo has struck out 15 batters on the season.
