TROY, Ala. – The Troy softball team (22-10, 2-1 SBC) is preparing to defend the Troy Softball Complex against James Madison for the first home conference series of the 2024 campaign.
A tale that has been told many times this season, Libby Baker continues to be a key piece on both sides of the ball for the Trojans. The two-way senior is second on the team with a .391 batting average and six home runs while leading the team with 30 RBIs. From the circle, Baker is posting a 10-4 record with a 3.53 ERA over her 79.1 innings of work.
Taylor McKinney comes into this series with a scorching hot bat. The junior second baseman is on an eight-game hitting streak including her most recent 3-for-5 performance against No. 25 Auburn. McKinney is batting .358 on the season with three homers, 22 RBIs and a .990 OPS.
Alyssa Faircloth continues to add to her impressive freshman campaign week-in and week-out. Faircloth recently pitched five dominant innings against Auburn where she finished with six strikeouts and limited the Tigers to one earned run off five hits.
James Madison (17-10, 1-2 SBC) travels to the Troy Softball Complex with the hopes of putting an end to a rough streak. The Dukes have dropped three of their last four matchups, with two of those losses coming from Texas State.
Graduate senior Reed Butler headlines JMU's offense with a .416 batting average, 24 RBIs, six home runs, six doubles and a 1.155 OPS. Alissa Humphrey has served as the Dukes' ace. The senior from Micanopy, Florida, bolsters a 1.71 ERA through 17 appearances this season. Humphrey has struck out 61 opposing hitters through just 53.1 innings of work.
