Women’s Basketball Set for Double-Bye and Friday Night Matchup with No. 2-Seed Secured

TROY, Ala. – After 29 games, including 18 Sun Belt Conference games which lasted 111 days, the Troy women's basketball season culminates at the Bay Center on Friday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. Set as the No. 2-seed, Troy plays the winner of game six, which sees the seven (Louisiana) and 10 seed (Arkansas State) battle.
The Trojans clinched the No. 2 seed on Feb. 28, ending the 2023-24 regular season with seven consecutive wins, capped off with back-to-back 100-plus point games and a sweep in the Troy-South Alabama rivalry for a 19-10, 15-3 SBC record.
Since SBC play began, the Trojans have dominated nearly all statistical categories, ranking in the top three for scoring offense (second – 83.8), win margin (second – plus 11.4), field goal percentage (third – 42.6), opponent field goal percentage (second – 38.0), opponent free throw percentage (third – 72.4), rebounding (first – 51.2), offensive rebounds (first – 18.6), defensive rebounds (first – 32.7), rebound margin (first – plus 11.7), turnover margin (third – plus-2), assist / turnover ratio (third – 1.05), steals (third – 9.39) and assists (second – 15.06) to set them up for a deep tournament run.
Head coach Chanda Rigby and the Trojans look for their fourth tournament championship in her tenure, hoping to hold the crown for the first time since 2021-22 with the program's first appearance as the second seed.
