Men’s Basketball Secures No. 3 Seed in Sun Belt Tournament

TROY, Ala. – Following an intense 31-game schedule that saw the Troy men's basketball team win its most regular season conference games since 2008-09, comes to a head on Saturday, March 9 at 5 p.m. at the Bay Center in Pensacola, Fla,, for the Sun Belt Tournament. The Trojans are the No. 3 seed and will face off against Southern Miss, Texas State or Old Dominion.
It's the highest seed for Troy since 2009-10 when they were the regular season champions. The Trojans finished just two games shy of James Madison for the No. 2 seed and three games shy of App State for the top spot.
The Trojans are ranked first in the SBC in bench points per game (29.3), fastbreak points per game (14.7), free throw attempts per game (23.3), free throws made per game (17.2), offensive rebounds per game (13.6), steals per game (10.2) and turnovers forced per game (15.3).
This season has been one filled with milestones for the Trojans, as Scott Cross won his 300th game as a head coach, Christyon Eugene passed 1,000 career points and Troy became the only team in the Sun Belt to have won 20 games and 10 or more conference games in each of the last three seasons.
Troy is looking for its first Sun Belt Conference Championship since the 2016-17 season and its first under the direction of Cross. All Sun Belt Tournament games will be broadcast on ESPN+, with the championship game on ESPN2.
