Troy Adds First Transfer in Robert Davis Jr.

TROY, Ala. – Troy men's basketball head coach Adam Howard announced the signing of Robert Davis Jr., the program's first transfer addition ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Davis, a 6-foot-6 guard from Detroit, Mich., was named the 2025-26 Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year and spent the last two seasons at Old Dominion, where he averaged 13.0 points and 2.5 rebounds while making 53 starts during his time in Norfolk.
"We're thrilled to announce Robert Davis Jr. as the newest member of our basketball program," Howard said. "Robert is an elite shot maker with great positional size. Throughout his career, Robert has shown he has the ability to be reliable in big moments. We're excited to get the opportunity to grow in his development and we can't wait to coach him."
Davis' breakout season came in 2024-25, when he averaged 15.6 points per game and ranked eighth nationally with 116 made 3-pointers, setting an Old Dominion single-season record. He scored in double figures 28 times, including eight games of 20-plus points.
He scored a career-high 32 points against ULM, shooting 8-of-17 from the field and 7-of-14 from three.
Davis began his collegiate career at Massachusetts, where he averaged 4.1 points across 30 games while playing 13.7 minutes per contest.
Over his three-year career, Davis has totaled 901 points, 196 rebounds and 114 assists. He has also knocked down 205 3-pointers while shooting 32.9 percent from beyond the arc.
Davis attended Southern California Academy, where he was named a Third Team Prep School All-American after averaging 25 points, six rebounds and five assists.
A standout at Hamtramck High School in Michigan, Davis averaged 22 points, five rebounds and five assists during the 2021-22 season. Named First Team All-State by multiple outlets, Davis led his team to its first district championship since 1984.
