TROY, Ala. – Following an impressive season that saw him help lead Troy to its third consecutive 20-win season, Christyon Eugene has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 23 First Team, the organization announced on Tuesday morning.
Eugene, a senior guard out of Spring, Texas, led the Trojans in scoring this season with 15.1 points per game on 47 percent shooting, including 42.8 percent from 3-point range. Eugene scored in double-figures in 27 of 32 games this season and scored 20 or more points in eight games. He was named to the All-Sun Belt First Team.
In addition to leading the Trojans in points, he was also first in the team in field goals, three-pointers, assists, defensive rebounds and minutes played.
"Christyon is so deserving of this honor after an impressive season where he proved he is one of the best players in the Sun Belt," head coach Scott Cross said. "Over these last three seasons Spudd has made a massive impact on Troy basketball and all the players and coaches who worked with him each day. We're incredibly thankful for the lasting impact he has made while at Troy, and I am super thankful to have had the opportunity to coach such a great player and an even better person."
Eugene was part of 60 wins during his Troy career and eclipsed the 1,000-point mark in the team's regular-season finale against Texas State on March 1. He is the 12th player in Troy's D-I history to score 1,000 points. Over his three-year tenure, Troy was the only team in the Sun Belt to win double-figure conference games in each of those seasons.
