NC State Transfer Jayme Kontuniemi Signs with Troy

TROY, Ala. - NC State transfer Jayme Kontuniemi is set to join the 2026-27 Troy men's basketball roster, head coach Adam Howard announced Tuesday.Â
Kontuniemi reunites with Howard after the two spent last season together in Raleigh. Kontuniemi redshirted in his lone year with the Wolfpack.Â
"Jayme is a tremendous young man with a great appreciation for being at the Division I level," Howard said. "He's a hard worker and a guy that you can count on to take care of his responsibilities. His best days are ahead of him and we're excited to welcome him to Troy!"
The Finland native spent two seasons with Drive Academy Espoo U20 in the European Youth Basketball League U20, where he helped lead the team to a 12-0 record and an EYBL U20 Championship in 2024-25.Â
The season prior, he averaged 6.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists while also playing for Drive Basketball Academy Black U19, winning the Finnish U19 regular-season and league championships.Â
During the 2022-23 season, Kontuniemi played for Omnia Espoo BA U20 team in the Swedish EYBL, while also spending time with Pantterit Helsinki in Finland's 1st Division.Â
A 6-foot-4 guard, Kontuniemi represented Finland on the U18 national team in 2023.Â
