Troy Softball Heads to Coastal Carolina to Open Sun Belt Conference Play

TROY, Ala- Troy Softball heads to Conway, S.C., to open Sun Belt Conference play against Coastal Carolina at St. John Stadium on Friday thru Sunday. The three-game series will be broadcast on ESPN+, and live stats will be available at TroyTrojans.com. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. on Friday, 1 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday.
Troy (20-8) will look to extend its four-game winning streak after a strong finish at the Spring Games last week. At the Spring Games, Troy outscored its opponents 50-8 in its four victories, including a season-high 15 runs against LIU.
Senior outfielder Jade Sinness picked up Sun Belt Player of the Week accolades after an impressive stat line of nine hits and three home runs through five games last week. Sinness spearheads the Trojan offense with a .422 batting average on 35 hits and 30 RBIs for the year and leads the Sun Belt in hits (35), RBIs (30) and home runs (7).
Libby Baker continues to be a two-way threat for the Trojans in the circle and at the plate. Baker ranks second on the squad with a .395 clip on 30 hits and 24 RBIs. In the circle, the Skipperville, Ala., native leads the Trojan pitching staff with a 2.89 ERA and 34 strikeouts.
Troy has played just two true road games this season in addition to its 12 neutral site games. The matchup against Coastal Carolina marks the first series the Trojans will play this season after opening with five straight weekends of tournament play. The Trojans took 2-of-3 in the series against the Chanticleers last season, winning 9-0, 8-7 before dropping the finale 4-0.

Coastal Carolina (17-8) enters the weekend with the third-most victories in the league, including wins over Michigan State and Syracuse.
Fifth-year senior Raelee Brabham heads up the pitching staff for Coastal Carolina, posting an impressive 12-3 record with a 1.59 ERA off 79 innings of work.
At the plate, the Chanticleers are led by grad student Indya Smith, who enters the weekend batting at a.328 clip with a 1.086 OPS on 22 hits, 17 RBIs and five home runs.
