Sinness Powers Trojan Offense In Third Day Of The Spring Games

MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – The Troy softball team leaves ROC Park on a four-game winning streak after winning both games on the final day of The Spring Games. The Trojans dominated yet again with a 11-1 victory over Stonehill (3-7) in the opening game before beating Long Island (9-11), 15-3.
Jade Sinness continues to impress since being placed in the leadoff spot for the Trojans. The fifth-year senior hit a near-perfect 5-for-6 from the plate today with three home runs, eight RBIs and five runs scored. Sinness has a .667 batting average while batting at the top of the order with 12 RBIs and four homers.
Game One: Troy 11, Stonehill 1
The Trojans got off the bus prepared to make a statement, scoring 10 runs in the opening frame. Sinness, batting leadoff for the second straight day, set the tone early by launching a home run over the right field fence.
Cassidy Boltz continued her hot start in cardinal red, smashing a ball through the gap in right center field to plate the second run of the game. Troy began playing station to station, recording eight straight runs off singles and a wild pitch.
The Skyhawks got on the board in the next inning after junior third baseman Shannon Conte hit her first home run of the season to dead center field. The Trojans answered back in the bottom of the fourth inning with an RBI single by Taylor McKinney that would secure the 11-1 win.
Two pitchers shined for Troy in the opening game. The tandem of Olivia Cato and Kate Peters limited Stonehill to just one run off three hits.
Game Two: Troy 15, LIU 3
The Trojan offense continued to impress in the final game of the tournament. Troy led wire-to-wire after a pair of RBI doubles by Boltz and McKinney put the Trojans up to an early 3-0 lead. Natalie Turner smashed a two-run bomb for her first home run of the season to extend the lead to five runs.
The Sharks brought the game back within reach after plating three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning with an RBI double by Mari Narvaiz and a pair of RBI singles by Devon Medina and Alexia Castro.
Troy answered with 10 runs over the final two innings, highlighted by Sinness's three-run bomb in the fifth and her two-run shot in the bottom of the sixth. Audra Thompson joined in on the action with a two-run blast of her own and Haley Pittman shut down Long Island, not allowing a single base runner in the fifth or the sixth to secure the early win.
Notables
· Troy broke their season high with 15 runs scored against Long Island. They broke their previous season high that was set just a day earlier with 13 against Columbia.
· Jade Sinness's three home runs today ties her with Kelly Horne for fifth-host homers by a Trojan in their career. Sinness has now blasted 32 bombs over her career and is six behind Heidi Johnson.
· Natalie Turner hit her first home run of the season and the second of her career against Long Island.
