TROY, Ala. – For the second time in her career, Ja'Mia Hollings earns Sun Belt Player of the Week after leading Troy over Texas State and ULM on senior day, the conference announced Tuesday morning.
"Stix is a great example of what can happen when a person consistently shows up and gives her best day after day," head coach Chanda Rigby said. "She never asks for recognition but just does whatever is required to help her team. She is doing great things for this team. She is so deserving of this honor."
Hollings led the Trojans in points (43), field goals made (18) and rebounds (22) en route to player of the week. She averaged 21.5 points on 58.1 percent from the field and 70 percent from the line. The West Point native also notched two double-doubles, averaging 11 rebounds. Add in two steals per game and 'Stixs' dominated all-around.
Against Texas State, Hollings was two points away from tying her career-high with 26 to mark her second-straight 20-plus point game. She shot 64.7 percent from the field and 4-of-6 from the line while crashing the boards on both ends, seizing five offensive and defensive rebounds. On the defensive end, Hollings also led the team with four steals to secure the win, 85-69.
Game two of the week saw Hollings excel on her senior day, posting 17 points and 12 rebounds to become one of three players to finish with a double-double. Once again, No. 11 shot efficiently on 7-of-14 from the field. The 6-2 forward also showed her clutch gene by icing the 81-77 victory with 0:02 left at the free throw line.
The player of the week nod marks the second for 'Stixs' in her Trojan career, joining Tai'Sheka Porchia in 2023-24.
Hollings and the Trojans take on Arkansas State in the First National Bank Arena on Wednesday at 7 p.m. before battling South Alabama on Saturday in Mobile.
