Game Four Sees Troy Travel to UT-Chattanooga

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball program eyes its first win of the 2024-25 season as it hits the road for game four of an eight-game road trip in the McKenzie Arena. Tip-off between Troy and UT-Chattanooga is set for Thursday, Nov. 14, at 5 p.m.
Thursday marks the Trojans (0-3) and Mocs (2-1) seventh meeting in program history. Troy's won the last two matchups against UT-Chattanooga under head coach Chanda Rigby by a combined 185-125 margin.

Tight Season Opener
Troy fell to then ranked No. 24/25 Alabama, 94-71, on Sunday to fall to 0-3 for the second straight season. The Trojans didn't waiver against the ranked opposition, battling to open the second half by outscoring the Crimson Tide 19-18 on seven made field goals and two triples. Defensively, Troy held the then-ranked No. 13 team in 3-point percentage to just 10-of-32 from deep for a season-low.
Senior Ashley Baez continued her hot start to open No. 2's Trojan career with a third-straight game in double-figures. She scored 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting as Baez continues to show off her range with a career-high four triples. The Dominican Republic native currently ranks second in the SBC and 42nd in the country for 3-point percentage at 63.6.
Emani Jenkins and Leilani Guion had breakout performances in the scoring column. After combining for two points on 0-of-16 shooting in the first two games, they scored 20 points against the Crimson Tide on 8-of-16 from the field. Jenkins (11) went 4-of-8 with three triples for her first career game in double-figures, while Guion notched nine points.
After starting 0-3, the Trojans are 5-3 in the program's history for game four. To clinch the first win of 2024-25, Troy looks to its depth as the program ranks fifth in the league and 64th nationally for bench points (29.7). They also hope to continue the stout start for rejections as the Trojans sit fifth in the conference and 89th in the NCAA for blocks (4.3).
Chalking Up Chattanooga
The matchup on Thursday will be a part of a doubleheader at McKenzie Arena. The Mocs currently sit among the nation's best on defense, ranking 20th in the nation for scoring defense (44.3), 43rd in opponent field goal percentage (.315) and 48th in turnovers forced (24). True freshman Gianna Corbitt has been on fire to open her collegiate career by seizing 11 rebounds in the season opener against Shorter before having five steals in game two (Tennessee Tech) and 12 points against NC Central.
Chattanooga's most recent game ended with a 75-36 victory at NC Central. Sigrun Olafsdottir nearly dropped a triple-double with 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds and eight assists. She also swiped a team-high three steals. The Mocs were lethal from deep, with a 9-of-15 showing for 60 percent, while NC Central was limited to 20.8 percent from the field.
