TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball team adds four new players to its frontcourt after a historic WNIT Fab 4 run with the nation's leading team for rebounds. Emma Imevbore, Brianna Jackson, Fortuna Ngnawo and Jamirica Roberson all bring valuable experience to the roster through stops from across the country.
"Our post players that joined our Trojan family this year are much more skilled at back-to-basket play than we have had in the past," head coach Chanda Rigby said. "I can't wait to see them all reach their potential here at Troy."
A product of Sun Belt foe Arkansas State, Imevbore joins the Trojans after averaging 1.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in 6.5 minutes. The 6-4 senior becomes the tallest player on the squad, holding down the post for Troy. Last season, Imevbore played in 18 games for the Red Wolves, shooting 46.4 percent from the field. The London, England native snagged 11 rebounds in a Jan. 27 game against Troy in Trojan Arena. She also blocked the Trojans four times in the contest.
Jackson brings a wealth of experience to Troy, making stops at Miami, Old Dominion and Oklahoma State. The 6-3 forward maintained her eligibility after playing four games for the Cowboys last season but starred at Old Dominion. Over the 2022-23 season, Jackson led the Monarchs in rebounds with 153 and shot 74.3 percent from the field. She scored a season-high 19 points against Appalachian State on 6-of-8 from the field and 7-of-10 at the charity stripe, adding nine rebounds in the conference matchup.
Born in Cameroon, Ngnawo comes to Troy after two seasons at Cochise College. She averaged a double-double in her sophomore season, notching 16.9 points and 11.4 rebounds per game to earn NJCAA Second-Team All-American and ACCAC Player of the Year. At 6-0, the senior led Cochise to a 25-7 record and an NJCAA regional championship. She logged 21 points, 10 rebounds, two steals and a block in the title game against Eastern Arizona College.
At 6-2, Roberson played two seasons for Chipola before transferring to Troy. The Montgomery native was named to the 2023-24 ACCC First Team after averaging a double-double for the Indians. Roberson averaged 13.4 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. She started 29 games for Chipola, shooting 47.9 percent from the field and scoring double-digits in 21. Roberson scored 25 points against Gadsden State on 11-for-17 shooting to record a season-high.
The new-look Troy frontcourt jumps into action on Nov. 4 for the SBC-MAC Challenge against Buffalo.
