Three Trojans Push to Flight Championships on Day Two of Mercer Gridiron Classic

MACON, Ga. – Luciano Alcocer finds himself competing for both singles and doubles championships at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center alongside Hiiro Sakamoto (doubles) and Henrique de Brito (singles) after day two of the Mercer Gridiron Classic.
The pair of Sakamoto / Alcocer continued their reign in 'Flight B' of doubles as the group punched their ticket to the championship with a 6-4 victory over North Florida. Alcocer wasn't done punching his ticket as he proved too much in singles competition shortly after. First, he battled with Chattanooga's Ethan Carr to a 6-4, 6-3 sweep. The Mexico native continued his pursuit against Esteban Davila Gasser from Mercer and quickly swept into the 'Flight B2' title match, 6-1, 6-2.
Troy found two of its members fighting for a birth into the 'Flight B1' title match as Vicente Arbelaez Prati won his way into the semifinals with a 6-1, 6-2 sweep over Alabama State's Matteo Lataste and Henrique de Brito swept Jacksonville State's Aman Dahiya (6-3, 6-2). The pair of Trojans battled with de Brito taking the first set 6-1. Set two ended early as the match was left unfinished, sending de Brito into the title match.
Sakamoto and Alcocer compete for the championship in doubles competition for 'Flight B' at 9 a.m. on Sunday, while Alcocer's singles match is at 11:30 a.m. and de Brito's is at 11 a.m.
