WEST POINT, Miss. – Troy fired its best round of the week in Wednesday's final round of The Ally, hosted by Mississippi State at the Old Waverly Golf Club. Victoria Stutts carded a 2-under 70 and climbed 23 spots on the leaderboard, while the Trojans moved up two spots and finished in 13th place.
Stutts dropped in an eagle on the par-5, 499-yard 15th to spur a 2-under 34 on the back of the golf course (Troy started on No. 10 for the third straight day). She added a birdie on the 17th before playing holes one thru nine at even par with two birdies and two bogeys.
She entered the day in a tie for 55th place but rocketed up the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 33rd position thanks to her second straight under-par round to close out a tournament; she shot 1-under in the final round of the Lady Red Wolves Fall Classic last week.
Troy jumped past Wisconsin and UAB into 13th place in a field that featured some of the top teams in the country. The Trojans shot 12-over as a team on Wednesday, its best round of the week by five shots. No. 45 Florida outlasted a trio of SEC rivals to win the team title at 15-under par, followed by No. 5 Mississippi State (-9), No. 11 Vanderbilt (-9) and No. 19 Auburn (+3).
Katelynn Altese also climbed the individual standings on Wednesday, shooting a 3-over 75 – her best of the week – to move up three spots into 59th place. She carded a pair of birdies on the day.
Laura Fangmeyer finished second on Troy's card in 56th place after shooting 78 in the final round; she made the turn at 6-over but rebounded to play her final nine holes at even par. Manya Saini shot 5-over and finished the week tied for 64th place, while Alyssa Mercado tied for 76th place after closing her week with an 80.
Troy's fall schedule is a wrap, and the Trojans now turn their attention to the winter offseason before returning to action in late February at the Babs Steffens Invitational.
