JONESBORO, Ark. – Phenyo Sebata fired a 2-under 70 to lead Troy in Tuesday's final round of the Lady Red Wolves Classic, hosted by Arkansas State at the Sage Meadows Country Club. Playing in her first collegiate tournament, Sebata finished 4-under for the tournament, and the Trojans finished seventh as a team.
Sebata, who played as an individual so her card didn't count toward the team score, carded four more birdies on Tuesday, finishing her final 36 holes of the tournament with nine birdies and just two bogeys.
She tied for seventh in the field with a combined 12 birdies for the week, and she also tied for ninth on the par-3s (E). Roberta Alvarez led the field with a combined 6-under on the par-5s, while Anna Roldan Sewald tied for third with 13 overall birdies.
Troy shot 2-over as a team in Tuesday's final round, slipping one spot into seventh place; however, the Trojans' score would have been the best a year ago by 10 strokes. Troy led the field with 48 birdies, four more than Arkansas State.
Roldan Sewald wrapped up the best week of her young career, carding a 1-over 73 on Tuesday, including three of her 13 birdies, to finish tied for 23rd. Alvarez was a shot back, tied for 27th at 3-over for the week after also shooting 73 on the day, thanks in part to an eagle on the 410-yard, par-5 No. 1.
Mathilda Ringblom and Manya Saini tied for 36th place at 5-over. Saini finished the week with a pair of 71s on her card, including Tuesday's round, which featured four birdies. Ringblom, making her season debut, birdied thrice in her 2-over final round. Mara Dajer turned in her best round of the week, carding four birdies en route to a 73; she finished in 52ndplace.
Arkansas State shot 3-under to win the team title by a shot over Murray State. The Red Wolves were 5-under in the final round, climbing two spots to claim the victory. Austin Peay dropped from the top spot to third, while Central Arkansas and Little Rock rounded out the top five.
Troy's wraps its fall season Oct. 26-27 at the Pat Bradley Invitational in Miami.
