Troy Soccer Takes on Kennesaw State

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's soccer team heads south to take part in the South Alabama Tournament in Mobile, Ala., where they will open play against Kennesaw State on Thursday, Aug. 24, at 4 p.m. CT at The Cage.

An Up and Down Start
Troy opened with a 1-1-0 record through its first week of games. The Trojans started the season with a 1-0 win over Lipscomb and fell to Auburn 5-0 on Sunday.
The Trojans have been led offensively by senior Gabrielle Chartier who is tied for the team lead in shots with three and leads the team in goals (1) and points (2). Dolce Villaflor has also recorded three shots, with two being on goal.
Senior defender Jayme Haynes leads the team in minutes played with 179. Right behind her is fellow senior defender Hallie Field with 176. Both Haynes and Field came to Troy this past offseason as transfers from Northwestern State. The two have proven to be cornerstone players along the back line.
Through two games the Trojans already have nine corner kicks. In 2022, Gore's Northwestern State led the nation in corner kicks per game at 9.16 – which came out to 174 total, good for third in the country overall.
Time to Even it Up
The Trojans look to even up the series record against Kennesaw State on Thursday. The Owls lead the series 2-1-0 all time, with KSU winning the most recent matchup 3-1 in Troy on Aug. 24, 2018. Troy's only win against KSU came on Aug. 29, 2014, when the Trojans picked up a 1-0 win at home.
KSU has gotten off to a strong start, recording four points on a 1-0-1 record. The Owls drew 0-0 with East Tennessee State and defeated Presbyterian 1-0. Aly Bryan has the lone goal so far this season.
