TROY, Ala. – Troy Athletics had a banner year across the majority of its athletic programs in 2022-23, with five programs reaching postseason play and 10 of the 11 programs competing in head-to-head competition, posting winning records. Additionally, Troy and TCU were the only two schools in the country to post a 12-win football season, a 20-win men's basketball season and a 40-win baseball season this past year.
"Congratulations to all of our tremendous student-athletes, coaches and staff for a fantastic athletics season this past year," Director of Athletics Brent Jones said. "We were extremely successful in competition, in the community, in the classroom and in the stands. To be one of just two schools in the country and the only Group of Five program to succeed at an elite level in football, baseball and men's basketball is an amazing accomplishment."
Troy Football kicked off the impressive run for Troy Athletics, posting a 12-2 record en route to its seventh Sun Belt championship, No. 19 ranking in the AP Top 25 and victory over No. 22 UTSA in the Cure Bowl. The Trojans ended the season winning their final 11 games, the second-longest winning streak in the nation behind only national champion Georgia.
On the hardwood, Troy Men's Basketball won seven of its final nine games to become the only Sun Belt school to post back-to-back 20-win seasons and the only Sun Belt school to win 10-plus conference games the last two years.
The success continued into the spring, where Troy Baseball earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Championship and defeated Boston College in the opening game to secure Troy's ninth 40-win season in program history. The Trojans opened the season winning 11 straight games and won 7-of-10 Sun Belt series to finish third in the nation's fifth-ranked conference.
Troy's football, volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's golf, women's golf, softball, baseball, men's tennis and women's tennis all posted winning records during the 2022-23 athletic year, while football, baseball, volleyball, men's golf and track & field participated in postseason competition.
