Javon Osbourne Crowned on Day Two of Outdoor Championship

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Javon Osbourne shined on Friday for day two of the Sun Belt Outdoor Championship with Troy's sole first-place finish at the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
Osbourne competed in the shot put event at 5:30 p.m. when he began his takeover for the event. His first throw of 15.61m put him at fifth behind Texas State, Arkansas State, South Alabama and Appalachian State. However, his second attempt put the sophomore on the map when he broke his personal best at 18.40m to lock up a gold medal in the event. Anthony Symile and Tristan Boatman made their presence known in the shot put event with ninth (16.20m) and 12th (15.49m) place finishes, respectively.
The men's 100m dash saw multiple top-10 finishes from Tydreke Thomas and Jaleel Gilbert. Both players competed in the first heat and had near identical times of 10.58. That finish put Thomas at eighth and Gilbert at 10th.
Martin Bouldo returned to the top 10 in the men's 800m. With six Troy competitors in the field, the sophomore topped the charts with a finish of 1:54.38 for ninth.
The men's final top-five finish on day two came in the 110m hurdles via Julian Martin-Rogers. The former NCAA East Preliminary competitor was a member of heat two. Martin-Rogers came across the stripe third in his heat with a time of 14.24. When all three heats concluded, the senior ended up in fifth.
On the women's side, the shot put event saw the Trojans make a mark with Biniosa Ezukuse on top in seventh. She peaked on her fifth throw with a mark of 14.94m. Abby Grosinske, Joy Edward and Leah Kennedy followed her with marks of 13.74m (11th), 13.37m (12th) and 12.87m (14th).
Kasia Cooper finished the highest among the women in the 400m with a sixth-place finish. Facing 21 competitors, Cooper put on a show with a time of 55.56 to come away with her highest finish of 2023 – previous high was ninth at the USF Challenge and Crimson Tide Invitational.
Tanner Guest had a pair of top 10 finishes, joining Lauren Locke in the top 10 for the 1500m. The pair split up in heats one and two as Guest came across the stipe with a time of 4:38.23 for ninth while Locke ended at 4:35.46 for eighth. Guest's second top 10 finish came in the 800m with a personal best time of 2:11.80 for seventh.
