Men's Tennis Drops Close Contest to Georgia State

TROY, Ala. – Troy men's tennis lost another close Sun Belt match Sunday, falling to Georgia State, 4-3, at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. All four of Troy's league losses this year have come by one point.

The doubles point proved to be the difference once again as the Panthers (5-14, 2-3 SBC) took the 1-0 advantage and the teams split the six singles matches; Troy is 0-3 in league play when losing the doubles point.

The Panthers extended their lead to 3-0 with wins on courts five and three before Mario Martinez Serrano put Troy (14-6, 2-4) on the board with a 7-5, 6-3 win on court one. Martinez's victory pushed his league-leading record to 17-3 this spring.

Roberts Grinvalds rallied for a three-set win on court two to clinch the match for Georgia State before Francisco Erramuspe won on court six, and Noah Martens won on court four to pull Troy to within the final one-point margin.

Troy closes out the home portion of its schedule Monday against Georgia Southern at 1 p.m.
