Back-To-Back Wins
A one-match weekend against Georgia State on Saturday saw Troy grab its third win streak of 2023 on a 5-2 victory where Hagar Amin went 2-0 through singles and doubles.
As the Trojans prepare for a pivotal weekend for postseason standings, three Trojans enter off a win in dual singles in Amin, Ahrend and Maria Guirguis. Meanwhile, junior Olivia Elliott is due for a victory as she enters the match against Louisiana in search of her first win since March 1 against Alabama State.
Not So Hot
After starting 2-2 in conference play, Louisiana has lost three of its last four matches, including its most recent against Marshall on Sunday, 5-2. Like their record, the Ragin' Cajuns stayed close through doubles and the early part of singles, 2-2. But with the match tied, ULL dropped three straight singles to fall.
Angelique Berrat is the Cajuns' top performer in dual singles overall, with an 8-5 record, primarily on court three (6-3). However, Momoko Yoshimura has slowly taken that role since conference play began, going 3-1 through the Cajuns' seven matches. In doubles, the pair of Berrat and Carla Urchoeguia remain atop the charts at 4-2.
Bringing Up the Bobcats
Eight straight losses have plagued the Bobcats, who are in search of their first SBC win of 2023 with just four matches remaining. The past weekend saw them go 0-3 with two 2-5 losses in conference play to Marshall and App State and a 4-0 sweep by Brown.
The second-lowest win percentage in the conference can somewhat correlate to the team's lack of starting strong. In 43 doubles matches, the Bobcats are 11-32 in doubles only the Sofia Fortuno / Maria Lora pair with a positive record at 3-0. Fortuna remains the only player above .500 in singles at 8-4.
