Track & Field Travels to 127th Penn Relays for Historic Regular Season Finale

TROY, Ala. – Troy is set to meet with over 200 college teams at the much anticipated and historic 127th Penn Relays. The world's first and longest-running track meet will have a thrilling conclusion to track and field's regular season, starting on Thursday, April 27, at Franklin Field. 
 
In the three-day festivity, the Trojans will compete against teams from 31 states and Jamaica for the desired Penn Relays Wheel. The meet starts on Thursday at noon with the women's hammer throw event, followed by the men. Opening day concludes with the men's 10,000m championship. A jam-packed Friday begins at 11:55 a.m. in the women's distance medley and is set to end with a final event of the men's 4x400 CTC at 8:05 p.m. Saturday has a bright and early start at 9:30 a.m. opening with the women's discus championship and ending with men's 4x400 relay at 5:40 p.m.

Coming Off Strong From T-Town
The Trojans made an exceptional appearance at the Crimson Tide Invitational in Alabama's Sam Bailey Stadium. Three players on the men's team finished strong with podium finishes. Sophomore Javon Osbourne set a collegiate career personal record for the shot put at 17.51m. Freshman Jaggered Moore earned the Trojans a second podium finish in the high jump event, ending the day in second place with a 2.10 jump. The third Trojan at the podium was junior Cole Stewart, who launched the javelin for 62.61m.
 
Alejandra Gutierrez Fuente and Kady Schwietz granted the women two top-ten finishes in the long jump. Gutierrez Fuente made a lucky seven spot when she jumped to the 5.58 mark. Schwietz soared to eighth place at the 5.52 mark.

Troy made waves in the 2022 Penn Relays, performing strongly each day of the historic celebration. On the second day, Eugene Vickers, Jaleel Gilbert, Quinest Bishop, and Alex Robinson landed a first-place finish in the men's 4x100m relay. Saturday's fans saw the women's 4x100-meter relay team of Gutierrez Fuente, Maya Kelly, Vennessa Frank and Naveyh Frost grab sixth place in the championship race with a time of 46.81, ending a promising Philadelphia trip for the Trojans.
