Â
TROY, Ala. – Libby Baker's team-leading 12th home run of the season wasn't enough for Troy as No. 25 Louisiana hit three home runs of its own to defeat the Trojans, 6-1, Sunday afternoon at The Troy Softball Complex to secure its 79th straight Sun Belt series victory.
Â
The Cajuns (36-13, 16-2 SBC) scored all six of their runs on the three home runs, two of which came off the bat of Lauren Allred. The Louisiana first baseman hit a 2-run shot in the second and followed a 3-run blast by Alexa Langeliers with a solo shot in the third.
Â
Baker put Troy (30-15-2, 11-6-1) on the board with her second homer of the weekend in the home half of the fourth. D'Aun Riggs, Kennedi Gaton and Emma Grace Walker were responsible for the Trojans' other three hits in the game.
Â
Sam Landry (13-4) picked up the win in the circle for the Cajuns as she went the distance allowing just the one run on four hits with seven strikeouts. Allred finished with three hits on the afternoon while Langeliers added two; the pair were responsible for half of the Cajun's hits and all six RBIs.
Â
Baker (2-2) took the loss for the Trojans as she was charged with all six runs on seven hits in three innings of work. Haley Pittman tossed the best game of her Troy career with four scoreless innings of relief with three strikeouts and just three hits allowed.
Â
Troy closed out the home portion of its schedule next weekend with a three-game set against Georgia Southern.
