Women’s Tennis Ventures to Coastal Carolina for Regular-Season Finale

TROY, Ala. – In the final match of the regular season, the Troy women's tennis program hits the road for a conference matchup against Coastal Carolina. Match time is set for noon at the Stevens Tennis Complex on Friday.
The Trojans (13-6, 6-4 SBC) sit seventh in the Sun Belt with an opportunity to leapfrog the Chanticleers (15-7, 7-3 SBC) and Marshall to fifth with a victory and a loss by the Thundering Herd.

The Matchup: Troy (13-6, 6-4 SBC) vs. Coastal Carolina (15-7, 7-3 SBC)
When: Friday, April 21 – 12 p.m.
Up One, Down One
The Trojans split their last two matches, winning at Arkansas State and falling at ULM. The loss at ULM snapped a five-match winning streak in the Sun Belt for the Trojans.
However, the win against the Red Wolves saw head coach Rawia Elsisi pick up her 100th career victory at Troy.
Against the Red Wolves, Troy started fast with doubles victories from Valeriia Avdeeva / Andrea Widing and Franziska Ahrend / Maria Guirguis, winning 6-4 and 6-3, respectively. Olivia Elliott secured the victory for the Trojans, 6-3, which brought the final score to 4-2.
The Trojans dropped the first match point for the first time since March 25 against App State when they fell to ULM, 5-2.
Ahrend battled back and secured a point for the Trojans with winning scores of 6-3, 6-3. Despite the loss, Hagar Amin finished the day on a high for Troy, winning set three 10-5 and bringing the final score to 5-2 in favor of the Warhawks.
One Last Ride
Coastal Carolina is fifth in the Sun Belt and have lost two straight matches. The two losses suffered by the Chanticleers were against Sun Belt foes Old Dominion (5-2) and James Madison (4-3).
The Chanticleer's only other loss in conference play this season was against South Alabama, 4-3.
Jesse Hollins leads the way for Coastal in singles play with a record of 13-2. Tatum Burger is not far behind Hollins, as she has posted a 12-8 record thus far.
Hollins and Victoire De Samucewicz have seen the most success in doubles teams for the Chanticleers with a 12-2 record. Anna Bayaban and Megan Hopton have compiled a 12-2 record for Coastal in doubles.
