Carles Anton Named SBC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week

TROY, Ala. – Troy junior Carles Anton ended his regular season with a flourish as he has been named the Sun Belt Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week; the league office announced Tuesday morning.
A native of Valencia, Spain, Anton went undefeated for the week winning two singles matches on court two and two doubles matches on court one. In addition, he clinched Troy's season-finale victory at Coastal Carolina, which locked the Trojans into the No. 4 seed in this week's Sun Belt Tournament.
After making quick work with Yeray Andres Pastor in doubles, Anton won 7-6 (4), 6-1 in singles over Maj Tomac to put the all-important fourth point on the board for the Trojans.
On Saturday at Augusta, the nation's No. 27 ranked team at the Division II rank, Anton and Pastor won 6-1 in doubles before Anton won 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 in singles.
He enters the Sun Belt Tournament 16-4 on the spring, including a 5-2 record in league play. He ended the season with wins in six of his last seven singles matches and five of his final six doubles matches.
