Troy is 6-4 thus far in midweek games this season. Troy is hitting .321 during midweek contests and outscoring their opponents 73-65. Senior Caleb Bartolero has 11 runs batted in when games are played during the week and will look to carry his recent form after recording his second multi-home run game of the season over the weekend.
Despite splitting the doubleheader with Louisiana on Sunday, Troy saw a series victory over the Ragin' Cajuns in Lafayette in part to dominate pitching. The Trojans set a program record for strikeouts per nine innings last season, finishing at 9.7; this season, they are well ahead of that, with 11.1 per nine entering Tuesday. That is second in the Sun Belt Conference and 11th in the nation.
Graduate transfer Zach Fruit has been a big part of that as he is also second in the conference and 11th in the country, with 13.74 per nine innings.
It's not just Trojan pitching finding success; the bats also continue producing. In game two of Sunday's doubleheader, Shane Lewis hit his league-leading 16th home run of the season, giving him also 50 RBIs; both pace the Sun Belt.
Kristian Asbury is making his second consecutive midweek start and third overall this season. Asbury is 2-1 in 25 innings pitched with 42 strikeouts and 15 walks. Jacksonville State will counter with Collin Casey, who has made one appearance all year, only recording one out.
Know the Foe: Jacksonville State
