TROY, Ala. — Kam Jenkins and Tyner Flynt have been named to the Top 150 Best Incoming Freshmen list compiled by Prep Baseball and published by D1Baseball.
Prep Baseball has continued to shape college baseball rosters by delivering comprehensive, year-round evaluations of the country's top high school talent. By combining year-round scouting, advanced analytics, and long-term projection, its assessments give college coaches advanced looks at high school athletes.
Troy stands alone as the only Group of Five program to have multiple players make the prestigious list.
Jenkins checked in at No. 74 and the 15th-ranked shortstop on Prep Baseball's list.
In his lone season playing for Bob Jones High School in Madison, Alabama, Jenkins showed off his offensive talent. The incoming first-year Trojan recorded 49 runs, 47 hits, 41 RBIs, 27 walks, 17 stolen bases, and 16 home runs. The Oswego, Illinois, native posted a .364 batting average to pair with a dominant 1.385 OPS.
Jenkins led the Patriots in nearly every offensive statistical category while leading them to their fifth straight Class 7A quarterfinal appearance. His 16 home runs were the most among all players in the state of Alabama this past season.
Flynt landed as the second Trojan inside the top 100, as the southpaw came in at No. 98 in Prep Baseball's list, and the ninth-ranked left-handed pitcher.
The native of Purvis, Mississippi, dominated at Presbyterian Christian School his senior season. The left-handed pitcher posted a commanding 0.62 ERA while holding opposing batters to a .100 average at the plate. In just 56 innings for the Bobcats, Flynt recorded 97 strikeouts — a four punchout improvement from his junior campaign in 11.1 fewer innings.
Flynt allowed just 18 hits and five earned runs throughout his senior campaign. In 11 appearances on the season, the incoming Trojan logged five separate games where he tossed double-digit strikeouts. His strikeout-to-walk ratio sat at an impressive 3.73 and his K/9 rate concluded at 15.58.
After leading the Bobcats to a MAIS 6A title a year ago, Flynt once again helped deliver his team a championship despite Presbyterian making the jump up to MHSAA Class 3A. Flynt went a perfect 9-0 on the season and topped it off with a nine-strikeout performance in the Bobcats' second consecutive championship victory.
