TROY, Ala. โ The Troy men's golf team returns to action at the Tiger Invitational Sunday thru Tuesday at the RTJ Grand Nationals Lake Course in Opelika. Teams are set to play 18 holes daily on the par-72, 7,289-yard course.
ย
The Trojans opened the spring two weeks ago with a fourth-place finish in the Savannah Intercollegiate behind top-10 performances from Nicklas Borrmann and Jake Springer and a tie for 15th place by Brantley Scott. Will Simpson led the Trojans with a 2-under 214 playing as an individual, and he finds himself in the lineup this week.
ย
Simpson, a freshman from Pella, Iowa, has played in just two tournaments this year but is second on the team with a 72.00 stroke average through his six rounds. He tied for fifth in Savannah and shot 2-over par in Troy's trip to the Bahamas.
ย
Troy is one of just three teams other than Auburn (Mississippi State, Florida Gulf Coast) to win the event since its creation in 2013; the Trojans won with a 2-under par in 2016.
ย
Scott's 15th-place finish at Savannah marked just the second time in five events this year he finished outside the top 10. He leads Troy with a -0.27 score vs. par and is the No. 218 ranked player in the country, according to Golf Stat.
ย

Borrmann leads the way with six, including two in Savannah, while Scott and Will McFadden have five each.
