TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's tennis team returns to action this weekend, but a little bit later than expected. The Trojans were scheduled to play at Alabama A&M on Friday, but adverse weather has pushed that match to Monday. Troy opens play this weekend now on Sunday at Chattanooga.
Troy (9-2) saw its nine-match winning streak come to a halt its last time out with a 5-2 loss at East Tennessee State last Friday. The Trojans recorded victories from Yeray Andres Pastor and Noah Martens in the match with the Buccaneers.
Mario Martinez Serrano leads Troy with nine singles victories this spring and has won nine of his last 10 matches overall, playing 10 of his 11 spring matches on court one. Carles Anton and Pastor both have seven wins this spring, while Francisco Erramuspe and Vito Llinares have six wins.
Martens rejoined the team midway through the spring and is 4-1 since his return in singles and doubles.
The Mocs (7-3) have won four of their last five matches heading into a Saturday contest against Kennesaw State before the Trojans come to town Sunday, while Alabama A&M is 0-3 on the spring and has scheduled matches against Vanderbilt and Jacksonville State on Saturday and Sunday.
