CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Troy men's tennis team picked up a big road victory Sunday, knocking off Chattanooga, 5-2, at the UTC Tennis Center.
Troy (10-2) took the doubles point and won on four of the six singles courts to hand Chattanooga (8-4) its first home loss of the season after the Mocs opened the spring with six straight home victories.
Carles Anton and Yeray Andres Pastor made quick work on court one with a 6-2 victory, and Jules Fabre and Mario Martinez Serrano won 7-6 on court two to give Troy the doubles point.
Anton improved to 8-2 on the spring and gave the Trojans a 2-0 lead with a 6-3, 6-4 win on court two, and Martinez pushed the advantage out to 3-0 as he won 6-3, 6-3 on court one to push his overall record 18-5 and 10-2 in the spring.
Chattanooga closed the gap to 3-1 with a win on court three, but that just delayed the inevitable as Noah Martens won 6-3, 6-4 on court five to clinch the match for the Trojans. Pastor won in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6, on court four to push Troy's lead to 5-1, and the Mocs salvaged a match on court six.
