Women’s Tennis Wins Ninth Straight Match Over Alabama A&M

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – For the ninth straight match, the Troy women's tennis team overpowered Alabama A&M, 7-0, on Tuesday afternoon at the Bulldog Tennis Courts.
The Trojans (6-1) win their third straight match, tying their longest win streak of 2022-23 and improving to 2-0 on the road. The Bulldogs (4-6) drop their third in a row, continuing the team's 21-point scoreless streak.
Troy bounced back from a shaky start in doubles when Maria Guirguis / Valeriia Avdeeva and Hagar Amin / Kristina Kukaras redeemed the 6-2 loss on court one with 6-3 victories for both sides, 1-0.
Singles saw Troy continue its blowout on courts five and six via Guirguis and Franziska Ahrend, who won their dual matches, 6-1, 6-3 and 6-1, 6-2, respectively, to put Troy at match point, 3-0.
Kukaras wasn't far behind them on court one, taking the first set with a 6-1 victory before clinching the match in the second at 6-4.
The wins kept coming for the Trojans as Avdeeva (6-4, 6-3) and Amin (6-2, 6-2) clinched Troy's fifth and sixth points.
Lastly, on court four, Elliott was battling with the Bulldogs' top singles player, Yana Dhamija. Dhamija got the upper hand in the first set with a 6-4 victory. However, the junior fired back with a 6-3 win in the second before grabbing the seventh point for Troy in a 10-4 tiebreaker victory.
