Softball Travels to Unconquered Invitational

TROY, Ala. – Coming off its first road win of the season, the Troy Softball team heads to Tallahassee, Fla., this weekend for the Unconquered Invitational hosted by Florida State. The Trojans enter the weekend winners in five of their last six games following Wednesday's 8-3 win at Mercer.
Troy (7-3) opens play against Florida Gulf Coast (7-6) at 9 a.m. (CT) Friday morning before playing Lamar (3-10) immediately following the opener. Saturday's schedule pits the Trojans against Florida Gulf Coast in the first game of the day before they return to take on No. 6 Florida State (10-3) at 3:45 p.m. Troy closes out play against Lamar on Sunday at 8 a.m.

Troy enters the weekend with one of the nation's best pitching staffs in tow as the Trojans rank among the nation's best with a 1.48 staff ERA. Leanna Johnson is the ace of the staff, ranking 39th in the country with a 0.56 ERA (3 ER/37.1 IP) in addition to logging 52 strikeouts. In addition, freshman Olivia Cato is off to a strong start to her collegiate career with a 0.89 ERA in 15.2 innings of work.
At the plate, the Trojans are riding strong starts by Anslee Finch, Libby Baker, Jade Sinness and Taylor McKinney. The quartet has combined for eight doubles, two triples and five home runs and are all hitting at a .333 clip or better. The Trojans also have a good mix of power and speed in the lineup with D'Aun Riggs adding two triples and three stolen bases, plus eight stolen bases from Natalie Turner.
Troy is in the middle of playing 17-of-18 games away from home after opening the season with nine straight games at the Troy Softball Complex.
