TROY, Ala. – Winners of eight straight, the Troy men's tennis team returns home Saturday for an in-state rivalry matchup against Jacksonville State at the Lunsford Tennis Complex; first serve is 11 a.m. and admission is free.
Troy (8-1) has not lost since its season opener at Miami on January 14, and the Trojans are 6-0 at home this season. Troy's strength can be traced to the top of its lineup, where Mario Martinez Serrano and Carles Anton have combined to go 14-2 this spring on courts one and two.
As a whole, Troy has played well in singles, winning 74.5 percent of its matches during the spring, including a perfect 6-0 from Francisco Erramuspe and Vito Llinares when playing on court six.
Serrano enters the weekend having won eight straight matches and Erramuspe has won five straight. Noah Martens has provided the Trojans with a boost in the middle of the lineup as he's 3-0 playing at No. 4 and No. 5 since rejoining the team.
Jacksonville State (5-4) enter the weekend after splitting a pair of mid-week matches, losing to UAB (5-2) and defeating Wallace State (7-0).
