Men’s Tennis Blanks Nicholls State for Eighth Straight Win

TROY, Ala. – Troy men's tennis blanked Nicholls State, 4-0, Sunday afternoon at the Lunsford Tennis Complex to run its winning streak out to eight matches.
Troy (8-1) won the doubles point and claimed the first three singles matches to take the victory as the two teams played to a clinch scenario due to travel concerns.
Freshman Mario Martinez Serrano improved to 16-4 overall and 8-1 in dual matches with a 6-2, 6-2 victory on court one to clinch the match for the Trojans. He and Francisco Erramuspe clinched the doubles point for Troy with a 6-2 win on court three.
Erramuspe also scored a point for Troy in singles, winning 6-2, 6-3 on court five to put the Trojans up 3-0 after Carles Anton moved to 6-1 during the spring with a 6-1, 6-3 win on court two. Anton and Jules Fabre teamed up for a quick 6-1 win on court one in doubles.
Noah Martens and Vito Llinares were both up on their respective courts when the match was called.
Troy returns to action Saturday against Jacksonville State at 11 a.m. at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
