Troy Men’s Basketball Takes on Oregon State

TROY, Ala. — After suffering its first loss of the season on Wednesday, the Troy men's basketball team looks to answer back on Friday evening when they face off against Oregon State in Corvallis, Ore., at 6 p.m. CT in the Gill Coliseum. The game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks and fans can listen on the Troy Sports Radio Network.
The Trojans fell to Ohio, 88-70, Wednesday night in Athens after opening its season with a win over Fort Lauderdale on Monday afternoon.
The game on Friday is the first time the Trojans and Beavers have faced off before.

Time to Respond
After Ohio jumped out to a quick lead in the first half, the Trojans found themselves behind the eight-ball early and couldn't quite answer back in Wednesday's defeat in the MAC-SBC Challenge.
Christyon Eugene led the way for Troy with 19 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Tayton Conerway added his second double-figure performance in as many games, as he finished with 13 points on a perfect 4-4 from the field.
Troy shot 39 percent from the field and 27.3 percent from 3-point range. They also added a 72 percent clip from the charity stripe (18-25).

Despite giving up 88 points, Troy held the Ohio offense to 45 percent from the field and 28 percent from beyond the arc.
Scouting the Beavers
Oregon is coming off an 82-46 win over Linfield on Monday. Jordan Pope led the way with 16 points on 7-13 shooting — 2-4 from 3-point range. Dexter Akanno and Tyler Bilodeau each added 11 points.
Oregon State is coming off an 11-21 (5-15 Pac-12) season in 2022-23. Despite the record, the Beavers had success at home, going 10-7 while playing in Corvallis. On the road, they went 1-10 and 0-4 at neutral sites.
They are led by head coach Wayne Tinkle, who is in his 18th year of coaching and 10th at Oregon State. He has a 286-249 all-time record and is 128-158 with the Beavers.

• Troy moves to 0-16 in the Scott Cross era when it allows more than 80 points.
• Ohio's seven turnovers are the fewest forced by a Troy team since they forced four against UT-Arlington on Jan. 1, 2022.
• As part of the MAC-SBC Challenge, Troy will host a to-be-determined MAC opponent on Feb. 10 at Trojan Arena.
