TROY, Ala. – The NCAA announced senior Cadi Rowe is the sole Troy Trojan to compete in the NCAA South Regional for cross country on Friday, Nov. 10, in Gainesville, Fla.
"Cadi has been a great representative for our team," director of track & field / cross country Marc Davis said. "The amount she has had to overcome over the past year and a half is tremendous. She has done everything that's been asked and has been an ideal teammate, and we are excited to watch her compete on Friday."
Rowe prepares for her sixth meet of the 2023 season on the Mark Bostick Golf Course, accumulating three top-50 finishes. The senior even seized her first career individual win in 2023 when she dominated the Huntingdon Invitational. She led the entirety of the event, pacing a Trojan sweep in the top six to secure the win at 23:51.60.
In her five meets, Rowe managed to pace the women's side in the past three meets, finishing in the top two for Troy in all five. In 2023, she holds the top time in the 5k when she timed at 22:15.50 at the Alabama Crimson Classic to finish 118th.
Through her four-year career at Troy, where she plans on graduating with a degree in exercise science in May 2024, she has finished in the top 50 on 17 occasions. Rowe came out of the gates strong in her collegiate debut, opening with a second-place finish at the JSU Struts XC Season Opener on Aug. 30, 2019. She continued her momentum, grabbing a top 10 finish in 3-of-4 meets in 2020. Friday also marks the third time Rowe will compete in the South Regional after a 158th and 103rd-place finish in 2021 and 2019, respectively.
"Cadi has been a stalwart on our team throughout her college career, rarely having to miss a race and always putting herself into positions to do her best on the day," head coach Brian Cunningham said. "Even after a life-threatening illness, Cadi returned and has continued to make progress. She has reinvented her career, moving from predominately the mile/1500 distance into a 5k and 10k runner on the track. We are so fortunate to have her as a leader and resource for the younger athletes on the team. At times, Cadi is almost an assistant coach, helping to guide her teammates through the rigors of training. Her self-deprecating humor, excellent grades, and overall toughness will be missed when her career concludes. Fortunately, we won't be saying goodbye to her at the end of cross country. We still get to have her around for track season."
