GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Cadi Rowe was the Troy cross country team's lone competitor Friday morning in Gainesville, Fla., for the NCAA South Regional, coming across the finish line in 159th with a new personal record in the 6k at 21:46.80.
"Today went very well," head coach Brian Cunningham said. "Cadi did an excellent job competing and staying focused throughout the race. It paid off with a 30-second personal best—a fitting way to close out her Troy cross country career."
In her first race on the Mark Bostick Golf Course, the senior gave it her all in the 6k against 213 competitors. Rowe came out of the gates back in 164th through the first 1k, sitting 32.6 seconds behind the leader. She never wavered and began to climb by the one-mile mark, jumping three spots.
The Florida native continued her steady rise to the 3,020m mark, including her best split from the 2,460m – 3,020m mark of 2:04.70 to find herself in 158th. A one-position fall was met by two spots gain into the 4,360m stripe to hit her highest position of 157th.
She fought to the finish line at 21:46.80 for 159th, obliterating her personal record in the 6k by nearly 32 seconds set back at the Blazer Classic on Oct. 16, 2020, during her second year.
Rowe now sets her sights on Dec. 1 when she joins the indoor track & field team in Birmingham, Ala., for the BSC Indoor Icebreaker.
