Troy Volleyball Heads to the Mountain State to Face Marshall

TROY, Ala. - Troy volleyball heads to the mountain state to continue its conference slate against Marshall with a pair of matches starting Friday evening – both games will be broadcast on ESPN+.
Troy enters the weekend holding a five-match win streak that stems back to its last nonconference match against Grambling State on Sept. 15. With the sweep over Southern Miss, the Trojans are one of four teams that play this week who remain undefeated in league play.
Tori Hester continues to run the Trojan offense with 199 kills. She's followed by Amiah Butler and Julia Brooks, who have collected 163 and 137 kills, respectively. The trio tallies 499 of the squad's 620 kills.
With 166 assists, averaging 11.86 assists per set, Janelle Stuempfig leads the Sun Belt in conference only matches.
Stuempfig and Hester were recognized by the Sun Belt Conference as the Setter and Offensive Player of the Week, respectively, for their instrumental work in securing the sweep over Southern Miss. Stuempfig tallied 101 assists against USM and posted a career-high of 63 in Saturday's match. Hester set a new program record and career high of 36 kills during Saturday night's match and recorded 50 kills in the series.
The Trojans and Thundering Herd have met three times previously, with last season marking the first as conference foes. Troy leads the all-time series 3-0 over Marshall. In addition, this will be the first time the Trojans venture to Huntington, W. Va., to face Marshall on their home court.

The Thundering Herd is 2-2 in conference play, with losses to Georgia State and Old Dominion. Lydia Montague and Jazminn Parrish combined for 336 of the squad's 865 kills. As a team, Marshall's offense averages 12.54 kills per set, which ranks eighth in the conference.
Defensively, Marshall averages 2.14 blocks per set, as opposed to Troy's 1.73 blocks per set. Montague leads the Herd in blocks with 67 blocks.
