Men's Tennis Solid on Day One of ITA Southern Regional

AUBURN, Ala. – Three Trojans advanced to the round of 64 in the qualifying draw and a pair of doubles teams advanced to the round of 32 on the opening days of the ITA Southern Regional held in Auburn on Thursday and Friday. Additionally, two Trojans will open play in the main singles draw Saturday.
Sophomore Mario Martinez Serrano earned the No. 12 seed in the event which pushed him straight to the round of 128 in the main draw, where he will play the winner of a match between individuals from LSU and Nicholls State on Saturday afternoon. Carles Anton drew Ole Miss' Isac Stromberg for his first singles match in the round of 256 in the main draw.
In the qualifying draw, Noah Martens, Yeray Andres Pastor and Vicente Arbelaez all advanced to the round of 64 with wins in the round of 128, while Arbelaez also picked up a win in the round of 256.
In doubles, Anton and Martinez Serrano knocked off a pair from Nicholls State in the opening round and now get the ninth-seeded duo from Alabama, while Alcocer and Simkin defeated a Samford duo and will now face the 10th-seeded pair from Tulane.
