TROY, Ala. – Troy and James Madison enter Saturday's matchup tied for first place in the Sun Belt following Thursday's action, which saw the Trojans win their sixth straight game and the Dukes have their 13-game winning streak snapped. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. (CT), and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The Trojans (11-7, 6-1 SBC) hit a season-high 11 3-pointers and topped the 75-point mark in a program-record 11th straight game in Thursday's 87-77 win at Marshall. Ja'Mia Hollings came off the bench to spark Troy with 19 points and nine rebounds, while Nia Daniel scored 16 points and Amber Leggett hit double-figures for the fifth straight game since returning to the team.
James Madison (16-3, 6-1) fell to Georgia Southern, 69-65, for its first loss since Nov. 20 against No. 13 North Carolina. The Dukes had been playing with fire their previous four games, winning by an average of 7.5 points with a single-digit scoring quarter in two of those games.
On the other hand, Troy's six-game winning streak has seen the Trojans notch five wins by double-figures for a 15.0-point margin of victory during the run.
The Trojans enter Saturday leading the league averaging 83.1 points across their seven Sun Belt games and are fifth on the defensive end limiting opponents to just 38.2 percent shooting from the floor, as the Trojans have held five of their last six opponents to 38 percent shooting or worse.
To go along with Troy's six-game overall winning streak, the Trojans will put another impressive mark on the line Saturday against one of the best the league has to offer. Head coach Chanda Rigby has guided the Trojans to eight straight road wins in league play, and Troy has won 15 of its last 16 conference games in their opponents' gym.
