Women’s Hoops Announces Loaded 2022-23 Slate

TROY, Ala. – The Troy University women's basketball team has announced its 2022-23 season schedule. A four-game swing highlights the non-conference slate through the west coast that includes a trip to Hawaii.
"We have so many new challenges built into our schedule this year," said head coach Chanda Rigby. "This will be our first time to travel out to the west coast, and we are excited to compete against some of the best teams on that side of the U.S. Of course, we are excited for our Hawaii trip and the excellent competition we will meet there."
Troy had another great season in 2021-22. The Trojans finished the season with a 24-9 record overall, including a 13-2 mark that earned them the number one seed in the Sun Belt Conference tournament. Troy was 12-2 at home and hosted Alabama in the first round of the WNIT Tournament.
Eight of the Trojan's 11 non-conference opponents reached the postseason a year ago as Arkansas, Belmont, Washington State, BYU, and Mercer all made a trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2022, while UCLA, San Francisco, and Tulane captured trips to the WNIT.
The Trojans will open the season with seven-consecutive road games before finally opening at home against Tulane on December 7. Troy will play its season-opener on November 7 against regional foe Samford before traveling to UT-Martin three days later before heading out west.
Three of the Trojan's next four opponents all hail from a power five conference. The west coast road trip opens with a showdown against UCLA on November 13 before the team travels north to play the Dons of San Francisco.
Troy will head further west for an appearance at the Hawaii North Shore Showcase in Oahu, Hawaii. The Trojans will open play against BYU on November 19 and will wrap up the tournament and the west coast swing two days later against Washington State. Troy will then travel to Arkansas on December 1 to conclude the season-opening road trip.
Three-straight home games await the Trojans starting on December 7 against Tulane. Two schools from the state of Georgia will travel to Trojan Arena for Troy's next two games as Mercer visits on December 10 and NCAA DIII opponent LaGrange College will be in town on December 14.
The final non-conference game of the season will be a road game for the Trojans as Troy will travel to Nashville, Tennessee, to take on Belmont on December 20. Then, the defending Sun Belt Conference regular-season champions will open SBC play with a home game against Southern Miss on December 29 and will welcome Texas State on New Year's Eve.
The initial road game for the Trojans in conference play will take the Trojans to Jonesboro, Arkansas, to face off against Arkansas State on January 5 before heading east to face Georgia State two days later.
The Trojans will play their first game of the new year at home on January 12 against ULM and two days later against UL- Lafayette. Then, troy will head north to play two of the latest conference members in Marshall and James Madison before returning home to host South Alabama and Georgia Southern on January 26 and 28.
