BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A in-state battle saw the Trojans fall in four sets (16-25, 23-25, 25-23, 18-25) to Auburn Saturday afternoon on the second day of the Blazer Invitational.
The Trojans saw a strong performance from freshman Jaci Mesa, Amiah Butler, and Janelle Stumpfig. Mesa saw a season-high 18 digs in the match, with Butler adding 11 kills for her fourth double-digit kill match. Stumpfig came in for her first game in a Trojan uniform and put up 23 assists in three sets played.
Tori Hester once again led Troy (3-5) with 17 kills and one dig shy of her second consecutive double-double. For the Tigers (7-0), they had 17 blocks in the win, led by Sarah Morton, who converted 25 digs, and Madison Scheer with 17 kills.

Set 3: The Trojans held the Tigers to a .077 hitting percentage. It was another close set as no team had a larger lead then three points at any point. With it knotted at 23 two straight attack errors by Auburn gave Troy the set.
Set 4: It was tied 9-9 at one point but Auburn took a 10-9 shortly after and never relinquished it.
Up Next: Troy will close out the Blazer Invitational on Sunday, September 11, at 3 p.m. against host UAB.
