TROY, Ala. – Troy women's soccer resumes game day action against Jacksonville State after taking a 10-day break following its 1-0 victory against Mercer last Thursday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at the JSU Soccer Complex.
The Trojans (2-2-1) have been rolling through their last three games, recording two victories and a tie after a tough 0-2 start. Meanwhile, the Gamecocks (1-6-0) come off their first victory on Friday after being outscored 13-1 in their first six games.
Winning in the Rain
Last Thursday saw Troy battle the Bears of Mercer and the inclement weather of Troy. Both teams were scoreless through the first 40 minutes before lightning brought an hour-and-a-half delay.
Troy didn't skip a beat after the delay, pushing through on the offensive end. Jayla Gage led the charge in the second half, putting out two shots in a 10-minute span – ended the game with a team-high four shots.
Nia Wilson followed up Gage at the 60:31 mark with her first shot of the night. That shot brought energy for Wilson as Jordan Stack launched a throw-in to the 5-7 sophomore just five minutes later. Wilson quickly turned and let out the shot, finding the top right of the net for her first goal of the season, 1-0.
