TROY, Ala. – Troy women's soccer returns to the friendly confines of the Troy Soccer Complex for its home opener on Thursday at 6 p.m. against Mercer.
The South Alabama Tournament gave Troy (1-2-1) its first win and tie of the season with hopes of carrying that momentum into the complex, where they grabbed 6-of-7 wins last season. The Bears (3-0-1) look to continue their roll of three-straight victories.
Nil-Nil Draw
On Sunday, Troy battled North Alabama in a defensive-heavy 90-minute contest that saw both teams go scoreless by the end of regulation.
Nine different Trojans let out a shot with Jayla Gage, Jocelyn Garcia and Melissa Kuya-Strobel creating multiple opportunities – totaled four shots on goal.
Defensively, Troy played flawlessly, allowing five shots with only two on goal. Lindsey LaRoche finished her first shutout of the season with two saves to secure the tie, 0-0.

Low Scoring Thrillers
Mercer leads the series 4-5-2.
The last three meetings between the programs have gone in split directions, with a loss, tie and victory for either side on a combined two goals. In 2021, Mercer visited Troy for the first time in four years, falling to Troy for the first time since 2004, 1-0, in an overtime thriller – Kate Eubanks scored the game-winning goal in the 95th minute off an assist from Alisa Detlefsen.
The Bears venture to Troy, riding a wave of victories in which Mercer has scored at least three goals in each game. Jada Moorman has been the leading scorer for Mercer with three goals in eight shots, including two against the College of Charleston and one against Stetson.
Mercer's success was unforeseen after the departure of its premiere goal scorer in 2021, Ally Fordham. Last season, the star scored nine goals with two assists to boost – five more than any other Bear.
