Troy Locks in For South Alabama Tournament Against McNeese State

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's soccer looks to notch its first win of the season when the team faces McNeese State on Thursday on neutral ground at Hancock Whitney Stadium for game one of the South Alabama Tournament.
The Trojans (0-2) plan to avoid just their third 0-3 start in the last 10 seasons, while McNeese (1-1) hopes to avenge its 8-0 loss to Texas A&M on Sunday - kick-off slated for 4 p.m.
Tough Start
Opening weekend for Troy didn't go as planned, with the team suffering losses at the hands of Texas Tech and Alabama A&M by a combined score of 3-0.
Lindsey LaRoche has faced 33 shots in the first two games with 12 saves, and an 80 save percentage despite taking the two losses. Her 12 saves have her tied for second in the Sun Belt.
Opening night had Troy fall to the Red Raiders, 2-0, despite battling tough against its sole power-five opponent. The Trojans were limited to just two shots through 90 minutes by Caylah Williams and Erin Bloomfield.
Monday's match at Alabama A&M saw Troy fall to the Bulldogs for the first time since 2000 with a final score of 1-0. Troy won the statistical battle having 18 shots to their 16, three corner kicks to their one and eight shots on goal to their seven. However, a boot from 28-yards out from the foot of K'la Barnes-Blackwood in the 78th minute secured the victory for the Bulldogs.

The Cowgirls split their opening weekend with a win over Sam Houston, 1-0, and an 8-0 loss to the Aggies of Texas A&M. Rachel Young netted the Cowgirls' lone goal of the season for a game-winner in the 85th minute over Same Houston.
Last season, Young was the face of the franchise, leading the team in goals and points at seven and 16, respectively. The junior put up those numbers while only letting out 18 shots with 11 on goal.
