TROY, Ala. – Will McFadden and Nicklas Borrmann were selected as Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced this week.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their associate's degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
In addition to being outstanding students in the classroom, McFadden and Borrmann excelled on the golf course for the Trojans.
McFadden, a junior from Mobile, Ala., battled Scott back-and-forth all season for the top line on the Troy card. He finished the season with a 0.64 score vs. par and career-best 72.45 stroke average. He was in the red in 14 of his 33 rounds, and Troy counted his individual card 100 percent of the time.
He turned in a team-best top-10 finish in six different tournaments and landed in the top-25 on nine occasions. McFadden shot within three strokes of par in 30-of-33 rounds.
Borrmann, a sophomore from Mannheim, Germany, closed out the year with a 74.54 stroke average and 2.75 score vs. par. He played five of his 28 rounds under par, including a 4-under 67 in the opening round of Troy's victory at the Bash at the Beach.
