TROY, Ala. – The Sun Belt Conference announced Tuesday afternoon the official 2022-23 conference schedule that pits Troy against its newest conference foes of Southern Mississippi, Old Dominion, James Madison and Marshall.
"This year's Sun Belt Conference will be as tough as any year I've ever been a part of it," head coach Scott Cross said. "James Madison, Old Dominion, Marshall, and Southern Miss will help elevate the Sun Belt into one of the best Mid-Major leagues in the country. We can't wait to get started and test ourselves against the great competition in the Sun Belt as we strive to win a championship this season. Our guys have worked extremely hard, and I know they are looking forward to the challenge."
Troy kicks off its conference schedule on the road against one of the newest members in the SBC, Southern Miss (Dec. 29), before ending 2022 in the Lone Star State against the defending regular-season champions, Texas State (Dec. 31).
Trojan Arena welcomes Old Dominion for the first-ever meeting between the two programs in the conference home opener on Jan. 5. Arkansas State wraps up the first home weekend on Jan. 7.
The Trojans then head up to the Boone, N.C. mountains to face Appalachian State (Jan. 14) after a date in GSU Sports Arena with the defending champions, Georgia State, on Jan. 12.
A pair of home games bring the Trojans back to the confines of Trojan Arena with another first-time meeting with James Madison on Jan. 19, followed by UL-Monroe on Jan. 21.
To close the month of January, Troy hits the road to avenge its postseason exit against Louisiana (Jan. 26) and battle in-state rival South Alabama at the Mitchell Center on Jan. 28.
February opens with a four-game homestand between Feb. 2 – Feb. 11, highlighted by the arrival of the Jaguars of South Alabama on Feb. 9. In those nine days, Troy also battles Southern Miss (Feb. 2), Texas State (Feb. 4) and Louisiana (Feb. 11).
The Trojans' final road trip spans from Feb. 16 – Feb. 22, starting at Arkansas State (Feb. 16). Then, Troy clashes with Marshall for the first time since 2009-10 on Jan. 18. Troy's final road game matches them against ULM on Feb. 22.
Coastal Carolina ventures to Troy to close out the regular season on Feb. 24 with the 16th meeting between the programs, leaving Georgia Southern as the lone SBC opponent without a contest against the Trojans.
The postseason will be held in Pensacola, Fla., at the Pensacola Bay Center as all 14 teams convey an eight-day battle for the Sun Belt crown from Feb. 28 – March 6.
