TROY, Ala. – Troy women's soccer and head coach Robert Lane announced the acquisition of two transfers on Monday morning in former Georgia defender / midfielder Jocelyn Hugo and High Point midfielder Ashley Rainho.
"The experience these two bring will be so valuable to a group that is hungry to compete and raise the standard of Troy soccer this fall," Lane said.
Jocelyn Hugo | Defender / Midfielder | Toronto, Canada | University of Georgia
For the Bulldogs, Hugo played in 16 games her freshman season for 337 total minutes. She let out five shots with one shot-on-goal against Binghamton. The 5-6 graduate student reunites with Lane, having been with Georgia the previous four seasons.
"I'm very excited to have Jocelyn join us from Georgia, Lane said. "I'm very familiar with her skillset and her experience playing at the highest level. Her versatility should serve us well with a meaningful impact very early in the fall campaign."
Before Georgia, the Toronto, Canada native competed on the 2018 Ontario Cup Championship team in addition to being a two-time Provincial Champion with Team Ontario.
Ashley Rainho | Midfielder | Livingston, N.J. | High Point University
The 5-2 midfielder ventures to Troy after playing 16 games at High Point for 207 minutes in her freshman season. In that time, the Easton Area High School graduate scored her first collegiate goal against Winthrop and assist at USC Upstate.
"Rainho provides a skillset and soccer IQ that we don't currently have," Lane said. "She's a student of the game who has the ability to link up lines and provide something dynamic in the final third. She'll be an exciting player to watch this fall."
The New Jersey native attended three different high schools, competing in varsity soccer for just her junior year at Hillside. That season, the former Panther scored a whopping 25 goals.
