Troy Softball Hosts South Alabama for Senior Weekend

TROY, Ala. – The Troy Softball welcomes in-state foe South Alabama for a three-game series starting Thursday at the Troy Softball Complex. The Trojans will kickstart the series at 6 p.m. Thursday, followed by a 6 p.m. matchup Friday night and the Saturday series finale at 2 p.m.

On Saturday's Senior Day, Troy (27-18, 13-11 Sun Belt) will honor seniors Tate Moseley, Kaylee Chapman, Candela Figueroa, Adia Polk, Logan Calhoun and Haley Postell prior to the game.

The weekend matchup will play a pivotal part in seeding for the upcoming Sun Belt Tournament as Troy currently sits at fourth in league standings and South Alabama at second.

Trojan ace Leanna Johnson leads the Sun Belt Conference in strikeouts (231), ranks second in opposing batting average (.176), innings pitched (176.0), wins (18) and starts (31) and ranks third in ERA (2.07).

Kelly Horne leads the Trojans' offensive attack batting at a .372 with six doubles, a triple and 11 home runs. She also leads the Sun Belt in slugging percentage (.735) and on-base percentage (.559) and is just three walks shy of Troy's single-season record.

SCOUTING THE JAGUARS:
South Alabama (23-17, 15-4 Sun Belt) enters the final regular-season series after sweeping Georgia Southern, its fourth conference series sweep of the spring.

Mackenzie Brasher leads the team at the plate with a .350 batting average and her 18 stolen bases are tied for fifth in the conference.

Olivia Lackie anchors the Jaguar pitching staff with a 1.91 ERA in her 128.1 innings of work. She has struck out 168 this season and is holding opponents to a .155 batting average, which leads the league. Her strikeout total is third-most in the conference.
