Troy Battles Through Weather Delay on Day Two of SBC Track & Field Championship to Qualify Four for Finals

LAFAYETTE, La.- Troy track and field sits sixth (men) and eighth (women) through Friday's events at the Sun Belt Conference Championship at the Ragin' Cajun Track Facility as four Trojans qualify for Saturday's finals despite weather delays.

Maja Kuessner and Javon Osbourne brought home the bronze medals for their respective events, bringing in points for the Trojans. Kuessner was the first to finish for Troy after she hit the 1.73-meter height for the first time this season. Osbourne continued Troy's success with his first podium finish in the event since the UAB Green and Gold – Invite and Multi. The freshman had a throw of 17.35-meters for his second-best throw of the year. Nash Rutledge managed a tenth-place finish with a personal-best throw of 15.33-meters.

The Trojans had three total qualifiers between the men's and women's 800m preliminaries. Alan Johnson (1:53.13) and Saindeley Dorsainvil (1:53.65) qualified on the men's side with a seventh and eighth-place finish in the cumulative results. Chance Armstrong was just two spots short of qualifying after crossing the finish line at 1:54.04. Edita Sklenska won her heat race to propel herself into the final tomorrow with a final time of 2:16.06.Â

Julian Martin-Rogers was the final Trojan to qualify for the final in the men's 110-meter hurdles. The junior smashed his personal best with a time of 13.94 to place second in his heat and overall. Lauren Locke took home a fifth-place finish for the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase after finishing at 11:07.89. After completing her heptathlon, Ines Garcia set a personal best of 4,114 points, with her top event being the 800-meter at 2:26.45 for fourth.Â

The SBC tournament concludes tomorrow at noon, with the men's discus event opening the day on ESPN+.
