Troy Baseball Hosts Coastal Carolina for Senior Weekend

TROY, Ala. – The Troy baseball team welcomes Coastal Carolina for a three-game series starting Friday at Riddle-Pace Field. The Trojans will look to end a four-game slide starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, followed by a 3 p.m. matchup Saturday afternoon and the Sunday series finale at 1 p.m.
Sunday is senior day, and Troy will honor seniors Jesse Hall, Trey Leonard, Rigsby Mosley, Marquez Oates, Kyle Gamble, and Easton Kirk prior to the first pitch.

The Chanticleers enter the weekend sitting in fourth place, just ahead of the Trojans in the Sun Belt standings, who are in fifth.
The two programs have seen one another 16 times before this weekend, with each having eight wins against the other. It's been four years since Coastal Carolina last traveled to Riddle-Pace Field, but Troy was victorious in the last meeting last season in Conway, South Carolina.
Before this season, Hall had only had one five games with multiple RBIs; entering the weekend, Hall leads the team with nine such games thus far, giving him a total of 14 for his career. In addition, his 36 runs batted in continue to lead the team.
Trojan starting pitching will be looking to bounce back and go deep into the ball game, as when the Trojan starter goes five or more innings, Troy is 18-6 on the year. When a Troy starter pitcher doesn't make it through five, the team is 11-13.
Senior Rigsby Mosley will get the Friday night start on the mound for the Trojans. In his sixth season, Mosley is one of the most decorated Trojans in program history. He has appeared in 216 games, starting 208 of them. Mosley became the all-time Trojan leader in doubles earlier this season, with 60 in his career. His 251 hits rank fifth at Troy, his nine triples are fourth-most, and with 793 at-bats, he sits in fifth among the Trojan record books. Mosley has started eight games for Troy and is 2-0 on the season with a save, 37 strikeouts, and only eight walks. Opposing batters are hitting .200, and he has an earned run average below 3.00.
Coastal Carolina's Tyler Johnson comes in with the third-highest batting average in the Sun Belt (.385). At the same time, Coastal's three-weekend starters, Reid VanScoter (8), Michael Knorr (5), and Nick Parker (5) have combined to throw 18 quality starts this season.
